WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 McDonald’s/Cessna Team

Kentucky Recap: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) made their lone visit to Kentucky Speedway. For the second consecutive weekend on the schedule rain would dominate the racing plans, affecting events scheduled Wednesday through Friday, including the cancelation of qualifying, thus the starting line-up would be determined by first practice speeds, giving McMurray a seventh-place starting position.

McMurray at NHMS: McMurray will be making his 25th start at NHMS this weekend. In his previous trips to the “Magic Mile”, McMurray has four top-five and six top-10 finishes, which includes a fourth-place finish in last fall’s race. McMurray has completed 6,785 of 7,178 (94.5%) of the laps run at NHMS and has led 32 laps of competition.

Eight is Enough: As the NSCS heads to NHMS, the battle to make the cut-off for the final 16 drivers that will compete for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup is winding down to the final eight races. Jamie McMurray, who is currently seventh in the NSCS point standings, is experiencing his career-best ranking after 18 race into a season. He is the higest ranked driver in the Chase standings without a win. Of the eight tracks where the NSCS will compete leading to the Chase cut-off, NHMS is the only track that the NSCS will return to during the 10-race Chase.

Kyle Larson and No. 42 Target Team
Kentucky Recap:
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) headed to Kentucky Speedway this weekend with much anticipation, as a new aerodynamics package was set to be used for the first time in competition. However, rain would play a significant factor, forcing several cancellations to the schedule. When cars finally got on track Friday, for one day of practice, Larson and the Target team proved strong, pacing the field in both practices. After starting the race from the pole position, Larson worked to maintain a spot around the top-10 before an incident late in the race caused damage that slowed him for a 35th place finish.

Larson at NHMS: The “Magic Mile” has been just that for Larson, who has competed all race laps en route to an average finish of 2.5 at the track in two NSCS starts. Larson has raced from starts of 13th and 10th to a third and second place finish, respectively. Larson also has one win win at the track, which came in 2012 in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. Larson will be in the media center on Friday morning from 9:15 – 9:30 a.m. discussing his past success at NHMS.

A Shopping Bullseye: If you have made it to the race only to find out you’ve forgotten to pack a few necessities, there’s no need to worry. For all your last minute needs and forgotten items, Target has all of the essentials and more.
