Busch showed Friday he was ready, leading the first practice session of the season at Daytona Internaitonal Speedway. Busch paced practice for Saturday's Sprint Unlimited with a speed of 200.740 mph.

"It's easy to be here and be pumped up about the season," said Busch, who is waiting to see if Delaware authorities will charge him with domestic violance after allegations by his ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll. "I feel like it's full throttle, full steam ahead."

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who has struggled in his first two Cup seasons, was second-fastest at 199.769 mph. Rounding out the top 10 were 2014 champion Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano, Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon, Jamie McMurray, Matt Kenseth, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Carl Edwards. Danica Patrick, who made the race by virtue of winning the pole for the 2012 Daytona 500, was 11th.
