No. 19 ARRIS Toyota News and Notes:

Edwards is paired up with championship-winning crew chief Darian Grubb for the 2015 season at Joe Gibbs Racing. Grubb was part of the team that tied with Edwards for the championship in 2011 and edged him out by the tiebreaker. The duo has high expectations for their inaugural year heading into the Super Bowl of NASCAR for the 57th running of the annual Great American Race, the Daytona 500.

Edwards and the No. 19 ARRIS team had a great run during the Sprint Unlimited non-points race last Saturday by fighting for the lead and finishing third to Matt Kenseth, who won the race and second to Martin Truex Jr. This was the first gauge of the team’s chemistry and elevated the enthusiasm and expectations for the “Big Show”.

In 10 Sprint Cup Series starts at the Daytona 500, Edwards was the pole sitter for 2012 and pushed Trevor Bayne across the finish line, finishing second in 2011. He has one top-five and three top-ten finishes for the February race at the prestigious Florida track.

RACE INFO: The Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway (2.5-mile) begins at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 22nd. The race will be broadcast live on FOX, Sirius XM Channel 90 and MRN Radio.

From the Cockpit:
Carl Edwards:
“This Daytona 500 is an opportunity for me, Darian and the whole JGR crew to start off our relationship the right way. We have had a great Speedweeks so far with Matt Kenseth winning the Unlimited and our ARRIS team locking our self in to the Daytona 500 in qualifying. We just want to have a real good outing for all the people who worked extremely hard to give me this opportunity to be a part of this team. We will have folks from ARRIS, Stanley and Toyota all here at the race. I know personally everyone around me has got a ton of excitement about this year and everyone is excited. It’s a new team, a new day and hopefully it’s a lot of fun”.

From the Pit Box:
Darian Grubb:
“Now that we are locked into the Daytona 500 we can actually take a little more time to concentrate on handling and making sure Carl is comfortable in the Camry and plan for the race setup. It’s going to be drastically different conditions in the 70 and 80s for the race and we are going to be practicing in the 40 and 50s. It’s going to be different, but we’re hoping to get a good handling package and give Carl what he needs for the full 500 miles”.
