Atlanta Recap: Denny Hamlin finished 38th in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway after a multi-car incident with 69 laps to go caused heavy damage to the #11 FedEx Ground Toyota and extensive time in the garage for repairs. Hamlin restarted seventh on Lap 258 on the inside line but was forced to move up a groove in Turn 2, where the car snapped loose and spun, collecting a host of other competitors before making contact with the outside retaining wall. Hamlin started fourth and led twice for 14 laps in the event won by Jimmie Johnson. The finish dropped Hamlin to 19th in the Chase standings after two of 26 regular season races.
Las Vegas Preview: The Series heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Sunday’s 400-mile event on the 1.5-mile track. Hamlin has recorded one top-five finish and four top-10 results in nine starts at Las Vegas, including a career-best third in 2007. Hamlin started 27th and finished 12th in the event on year ago, leading one lap.
Double-Duty: Hamlin will be driving double-duty this weekend at Las Vegas. In addition to the #11 FedEx Office Toyota in the Sprint Cup Series, Hamlin will fill in for the injured Kyle Busch in the #54 Monster Energy Toyota in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event. Hamlin has made six Xfinity starts at Las Vegas with a best finish of second in 2010.

Hamlin Conversation:
How can the FedEx Racing Team bounce back at Las Vegas?
“Obviously, I’m disappointed how things ended for us at Atlanta. We had speed for much of the race, and lost it there for a couple runs and put ourselves back for that restart where we hadn’t been all day. I got loose and got sucked around, and feel bad for everyone collected up in it. It’s important that we put that behind us and head to Las Vegas and focus on having a clean, solid day with our FedEx Office team.”
Government Sales Team Along for the Ride in Las Vegas: The FedEx Office Government Sales Team, a leading unit in the company’s annual President’s Club program, will be recognized with its “7398” code numbers on the b-post of the #11 FedEx Office Toyota this weekend at Las Vegas.
