Kansas Odds: Is Logano, Ford ready to take over 1.5s?

Joey Logano was on rails at Charlotte!
LAS VEGAS -- Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway will be the ninth race of the year on a 1.5-mile layout and third of five in the Chase. Drivers who consistently run well on these tracks usually find themselves in prime position to win the Sprint Cup title, and that may again be the case this year, but identifying who that driver might be got a little foggier when Ford burst onto the scene with its first win of the season on a 1.5last week at Charlotte.

Through the first four races on 1.5s, Chevrolet dominated by finishing one-two-three. Jimmie Johnson had three wins, Kevin Harvick had one win a three seconds, Martin Truex Jr had a second and Dale Earnhardt Jr. had three thirds. The next four races on 1.5s, beginning with the non-points All-Star race at Charlotte, all went to Joe Gibbs Toyotas. They were so dominant at Kentucky that all four finished in the top five, with Kyle Busch getting the win.

But all of sudden, the tide shifted again, and Joey Logano led 227 laps at Charlotte last week. Could this be the start of a new Ford trend? It's not like they’ve been bad on these tracks this season – Brad Keselowski has been ninth or better in all eight races on 1.5s and Logano has been sixth or better in six of them.
