Dale Earnhardt Jr To Drive No. 3 Car at Daytona in Nationwide Series

MOORESVILLE, N.C. - The famous No. 3 will be returning to Daytona International Speedway in July.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be back behind the wheel of a No. 3 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for the July 2 Subway Jalapeno 250 at the track his father captured seven NNS wins at, including five straight from 1990-1994.

The special tribute, that is a partnership between JR Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing and Dale Earnhardt Inc., will see Junior in a blue and yellow Wrangler sponsored entry for the race. Wrangler and the Earnhardt's have had a long history in the sport first coming with his Earnhardt Sr. in the early 80's.

"I have always liked the retro paint schemes," Earnhardt Jr. said. "I really love the car. I love being able to take it to take it to the race track and put it out there in front of the fans that recognize it and for those who will see it for the first time."

Earnhardt Jr. was involved a similar deal to this one when he was partnered with Teresa Earnhardt and the Chance 2 Motorsports team in 2004. That season, Martin Truex Jr. piloted the No. 8 Chevrolet with a similar paint scheme at Darlington Raceway when he clinched the Nationwide championship.
