Martin Truex Jr. is looking for his first Michigan win.
Martin Truex Jr. posted the fastest lap during Friday's practice session at Michigan International Speedway in preparation for Sunday's Pure Michigan 400. The lap at 201.545 mph came on the fifth of his nine laps run while in qualifying trim.

Jimmie Johnson had the next fastest lap (201.134) on the fifth of his six laps turned and Joey Logano was next (200.966) on the 18th and final lap run during the session. Ryan Blaney was fourth-fastest (200.775) followed by Kyle Larson (200.730) to round out the top-five where all three manufacturers were represented.

Larson had the fastest 10-consecutive lap average, but only two drivers attempted as many laps in a row. Tony Stewart was the other driver and he also paced the way with the most laps turned (29). He ended up with the ninth fastest lap (200.189) on what will be his final Cup weekend at Michigan.

Alex Bowman had the next most laps ran with 24 as he returns to the No. 88 as Dale Earnhardt Jr. is still sidelined with concussion symptoms.

Qualifying will take place late Friday afternoon and two more practice sessions will occur Saturday morning.
