William Hill opens dozens of Pennzoil 400 props

Sunday's Pennzoil 400 will 245th Cup race at LVMS.

It’s nearly time to start your engines in Sin City, as NASCAR’s best compete for the checkered flag this weekend at the Pennzoil 400.

Attached are the odds for NASCAR to win and props William Hill US, America’s leading sports book, has just released for the big race this weekend.

Kevin Harvick is currently the +400 favorite to win the race on Sunday, as he’s looking for his third victory at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in six years. Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. are right behind at +450 and +500 respectively, while all three drivers’ finish position has been set at 5.5.

A little lower down on the board, recent Daytona 500 champion Denny Hamlin sits at 10/1. Jimmie Johnson (30/1) has strong history in Vegas, as he’s won at the track here four times.

If you’d prefer not to put all your eggs in one driver’s basket, there are several props surrounding the race. Ford has even odds to be the winning manufacturer, while Toyota is +170 and Chevy is 4/1. An even-numbered car winning is a heavy -360 favorite compared to an odd one at +300. If you’re banking on an exciting race, you can bet on over 19.5 lead changes as well.

Las Vegas sports books post dozens of props for Kobalt 400

LAS VEGAS --It's a scalpers paradise in Las Vegas as the top two NASCAR bookmakers in the state — William Hill and the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook — have put up at least eight propositions for Sunday's Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway where bettors can set themselves up for a nice middle with little risk. The longer you wait, the less opportunity there is to middle the props as they'll all merge closer together once a few limit bets are made.

Las Vegas sports books only offer props like these for NASCAR races twice a year — Daytona 500 also — just because the betting volume is so large compared to the other 34 races. More action means the books can expect less one-way action and decrease their risk on a particular prop. It's the same reason you don't see 350 props in NFL Week 2 like you do in the Super Bowl; that, and also the lengthy time it takes to set them up, and study to post a proper number.

Westgate goes full throttle with Super Bowl-type props for Kobalt 400

Westgate has OVER-UNDER cautions set at 6.5 for Kobalt 400

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook may not have posted 350 props for the Kobalt 400 like it did for the Super Bowl, but there are more props available for Sunday's race than we'll see for any other NASCAR event in 2015.

The reason is simple: Las Vegas has a captive audience of over 100,000 people in town for the race. More racing fans means more volume; more props mean more ways for the book to ensure a profit for the weekend, the same strategy employed for the Super Bowl.

If the Westgate has to pay out lots of Jeff Gordon-to-win bets at 7-to-1 odds, the book's back-up plan -- props -- will help negate the loss. In the Super Bowl, many bettors cashed on 13-to-5 Patriots-to-OVER parlays, and if parlays were the only betting option, Las Vegas books would have shown a hefty loss. But between the Super Bowl props and futures, the books showed a $3.3 million profit.

The volume wagered on Las Vegas' NASCAR Sprint Cup race will be only a fraction of what was written for the Super Bowl ($116 million), but the same bookmaking concept applies.

“Being from Wisconsin, I am definitely pulling for the Packers,” said Menard. “I think it’s going to be a pretty good game this year – a close one and not a blow out. But, I do think the Pack is going to get the win.”

Sprint Cup crew chiefs Labbe and Martin chose the Steelers as this year’s victors. “Why?” asked Labbe. “Because, I’m a Yankee from Maine!” Martin, a huge Tennessee Titans fan, selected the Steelers in hopes that they bring the title home to both the Titans’ and Steelers’ conference – the AFC.

Harvick, a San Francisco 49ers fan, will be in attendance for this year’s Super Bowl and will cheer on the Packers because “they are on a hot-winning streak and I think they can get the job done.”

RCR teams begin their trek to Daytona International Speedway in the middle of next week for the opening of the 2011 NASCAR and ARCA seasons. Ty Dillon and George, Jr. will compete in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 on Saturday, February 12 before Bowyer, Burton and Harvick hit the track later that evening in the no-holds barred Budweiser Shootout event.

Austin Dillon and Coulter will kick off the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season on Friday, February 18 at the ‘World Center of Racing’ prior to Bowyer, Burton, Harvick and Menard taking the reigns of their RCR entries in the series’ most prestigious event – the Daytona 500.

Super Bowl - Budweiser Shootout proposition at Las Vegas Hilton Super Book

The Las Vegas Hilton Super Book posted a Super Bowl proposition involving the winning car number in the race with the first half total of Super Bowl.

The posted number for the first half is 28 points. The Super Bowl eventual first half total between both teams is favored to have the higher number as a 3.5-point favorite over the NASCAR winner‘s car number.

This looks like a a good bet on the Super Bowl total even though there is a large variable number involved with the possibilities that car No. 48 driven by Jimmie Johnson or No. 88 driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr have a good shot at winning in Saturday’s race.

However, there looks to be way more upside in looking at the candidates to win the shootout who have car numbers ranging from No. 1 to 24, beginning with the likely winners of either No. 14 Tony Stewart or No. 18 Kyle Busch.

Another bonus in this proposition is bettors taking the Super Bowl side with a higher number also get No. 9 Kasey Kahne who was fastest in the final practice session, No. 11 Denny Hamlin, No. 1 Jamie McMurray, No. 2 Kurt Busch, No. 5 Mark Martin, No. 16 Greg Biffle, No. 17 Matt Kenseth, No. 20 Joey Logano, and No. 24 Jeff Gordon.

There are only 24 drivers racing and all but three of the top restrictor plate racers are driving with cars under No. 24 or less which makes this highly advantageous based on the offered total of the first half.

It’s quite possible that the Super Bowl could score far less points than expected in the first half, but having trying to beat a likely range of 1 through 18 makes it look pretty juicy by taking the Super Bowl side.
