From the Cockpit:
Matt Kenseth: “I feel like when you get back from California you kind of have a pretty good idea where you stack up compared to your competition because you’ve been on a superspeedway, you’ve been on a flat mile, and you’ve been at an intermediate. After this weekend, you kind of get an idea where you are and where you need to improve. There’s a lot going on at Fontana, and the seams in the track surface are a big deal there. The track is really worn out so there’s a lot of fall-off on the tires. It’s definitely one that you can change your line, change your approach, find grip, lose grip, find speed and all that kind of stuff. It’s like every track where you have to have the car right, but certainly there’s a lot of options when you go there of where you can run.”
From the Pit Box:
Jason Ratcliff: “Matt (Kenseth) has done really well at Fontana in the past, and I was honestly really disappointed in our finish last year. We just didn’t run as well as I had hoped, and we got a decent finish out of it finishing seventh, but I know it’s one of the tracks that is always at the top of Matt’s list of places he enjoys racing at. I feel that we can improve on our performance from last year, especially knowing that our teammates were able to win last year’s race, we have a better direction as to what we need to do. We’re looking to go and redeem ourselves from what I felt was a poor run in 2013 and hopefully put ourselves in a position to win this weekend at Fontana.”
