Denny Hamlin will miss today's Sprint Cup race at Auto Club Speedway because of a sinus infection that has affected his vision, Joe Gibbs Racing officials announced Sunday.
Sam Hornish Jr. will drive Hamlin's No. 11 car in the Auto Club 400.
This marks the fifth race in the past two years that Hamlin has missed due to injury or illness. He suffered a broken vertebra in a wreck in last year's race at Califofornia and misse the next four races.
JGR President J.D. Gibbs made the announcement Sunday about 45 minutes prior to the start of the race. He said Hamlin was taken to a local hospital, where doctors advised him not to race today.
