The driver of the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota has earned three wins, 6 top-five’s, 7 top-ten’s, and one pole award at Las Vegas.
DEFENDING HIS WIN: Kenseth is the defending winner of Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In the 2013 event, Kenseth earned his first victory with Joe Gibbs Racing and did it in historic style claiming the win on his birthday. Only three drivers in series history have ever won races on their birthdays: Cale Yarborough, Kyle Busch, and Kenseth. While his birthday may not be until Monday the 10th, can Kenseth start his birthday week off in style with another trip to Victory Lane on Sunday?
JOE GIBBS RACING AT LAS VEGAS: Joe Gibbs Racing has 41 Sprint Cup Series starts at Las Vegas earning a total of two wins, 11 top-five, and 18 top-ten finishes. The organization also has led for a total of 395 laps, has an average start of 14.2 and an average finish of 15.1 at the 1.5-mile track.

From the Cockpit:
Matt Kenseth: “Vegas, before they reconfigured it, was probably one of our best tracks and I was fortunate enough to get a few wins there. It took me a little while to win there again, but it’s a special place for me because I won my first Cup race with JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing) there last year. It was just a really cool win since it was Jason’s (Ratcliff) and my first win together. It really was the start of a great season for us on the team last year, and so I’m looking forward to hopefully getting a shot at another great finish there this weekend.”
From the Pit Box:
Jason Ratcliff: “I’m anticipating that things are going to get exponentially better as we head to Las Vegas this weekend because I feel that we were able to learn so much last week at Phoenix in regards to the new rules package, as well as the new qualifying format. Even though I just feel like we might not be performing up to our expectations that we had hoped for so far, we’re learning a lot of stuff really quickly, and I think we’ll be able to start applying some of that this week. Vegas is really special for this group because it was our first win with Matt (Kenseth) last season. I have a really good feeling about this weekend, regardless of the rule changes, and we have an afternoon of testing on Thursday so that will help as well.”
