Danica Patrick likes her chances at Talladega

Danica Patrick fared well at Daytona this season
While many drivers will worry about the race Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway and how it could damage their seasons, Danica Patrick will look forward to her best attempt for a solid finish.

Patrick, 28th in the Sprint Cup standings in her rookie season, enjoyed her best race of the year in the season-opener at Daytona, where she became the first woman ever to win a pole for a Cup race and then finished eighth in the Daytona 500.

Talladega, the only other high-banked superspeedway where teams must use restrictor plates to reduce horsepower, requires similar tactics with drivers needing to negotiate the draft — often thanks to the help of others — to get to the front.

Two of Patrick’s four best finishes this year have come on restrictor-plate tracks. She crashed at Talladega in May but then finished 14th at Daytona in July.
