From the Cockpit:
Matt Kenseth: “Dover is a very unique race track how you drive down the hill and then up into the corner and then up the hill out of the corner. It’s one of those tracks that is very challenging to get around there fast by yourself, much less when you’re racing other people, but the keys to having a good race there are the same as every other oval race track we go to; you need to be turning in the middle better than everyone else, you need to have good entry stability, and be able to get off the corner well. The transitions into the corner at Dover are probably the most challenging aspect of it. It’s really rough getting into Turn 3, so it’s hard to keep the car off the ground there compared to Turn 1 because there’s a fairly big balance difference. To get those two entries tied together well and stable, while being able to turn the center, those are the biggest challenges for me.”
From the Pit Box:
Jason Ratcliff: “Dover is my favorite track, and I know I say that every year, but it’s just a great race track. It’s like Bristol on steroids and it’s just such a cool track that I can’t believe there aren’t more tracks out there like it. We haven’t really gotten some of the finishes there that I felt we deserved though. There is a new tire for Dover this weekend and I think that the aero package will be a lot different going there. I think of all the tracks we go to, that with the new tire and the new package, this weekend could be where we see some changes. The corners are so long, and it’s always been an aero-sensitive track, but hopefully this new package will reduce that and create some better racing. In my opinion though, Dover is the best track on the circuit.”
