Homestead odds: Who is favored? Who should be favored?

LAS VEGAS -- While many eyes will be affixed on the four drivers battling for the Sprint Cup championship, the majority of money bet in Las Vegas on the final weekend of the NASCAR season will be on who wins the Ford EcoBoost 400, where all 43 drivers come in to play.

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook posted Kevin Harvick as the 7-to-2 favorite to win Sunday’s race, and they’ve also posted him as the 3-to-2 favorite to win the Sprint Cup title. Last season he took home both trophies by winning the race and season championship. Tony Stewart also accomplished the rare feat in 2011.

Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. are the other three drivers still in contention for the championship.

Harvick has been stellar on 1.5-mile tracks all season, but Homestead-Miami Speedway is a little different from the others – D-shaped tri-ovals that all pretty much look same. Homestead is paper-clip shaped with 20 degrees of variable banking through the turns.

Harvick also happens to be the track leader with a 7.6 average finish. He’s started every race there since 2001 and got his first win last year in exhilarating fashion by also becoming a champion.
