Biffle Leads First Texas Practice With Roush Teammates Right Behind

FORT WORTH, Texas – Roush Fenway Racing teammates Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards led Sprint Cup practice Friday at Texas Motor Speedway while two of the three championship contenders struggled.
Biffle turned a fast lap of 193.340 mph on the 1.5-mile track. Edwards was second at 192.836 mph.
Defending Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports), who leads the Chase standings, was ninth-fastest. Kevin Harvick (Richard Childress Racing), who trails Johnson by 38 points, was 27th. Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing), who trails Johnson by 14 points, was 29th.
Rounding out the top 10 were Juan Pablo Montoya (Earnhardt Ganassi Racing), Matt Kenseth (Roush), Elliott Sadler (Richard Petty Motorsports), Regan Smith (Furniture Row Racing), Paul Menard (RPM), Martin Truex Jr. (Michael Waltrip Racing), Johnson and AJ Allmendinger (RPM).
Among other Chase drivers, Kyle Busch (Gibbs) was 15th, Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas Racing) was 17th, Jeff Gordon (Hendrick) 20th, Kurt Busch (Penske Racing) 22nd, Clint Bowyer (RCR) 25th and Jeff Burton (RCR) 35th.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was 13th fastest.
Qualifying is set for 4:40 ET today. There are two Sprint Cup practices on Saturday.
