Johnson crew chief Chad Knaus: "I think we've got to be a little bit better"

Jimmie Johnson won at Sonoma in 2010
Jimmie Johnson has won three of the last four Sprint Cup races, and what did crew chief Chad Knaus say after the win Sunday at Michigan?

There’s still more work to do.

Johnson has had incredible cars the last month. But he also has taken advantage of opportunities to win, with the exception of the race at Pocono Raceway, where he finished sixth. Knaus took the blame for that one, sending Johnson out of the pits when Marcos Ambrose was coming into his stall, resulting in body damage to Johnson’s car.

Johnson teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. won at Pocono when Brad Keselowski couldn’t get the trash off his grille and lost the lead late in the race. Then at Michigan, Johnson rolled into victory lane though Kevin Harvick likely had the fastest car.

"The fact of the matter is, I think we've got to be a little bit better,” Knaus said. “Last week, we were a whisker away from losing that one. This weekend, maybe we were one pit call away from not winning this one.

“We've got to continue to improve our product so by the time we get to the Chase we're where we need to be.”
