Jimmie Johnson on racing at Pocono
“Last year at Pocono we had some success and finished third and sixth. It’s such a unique track, but it suits my driving style and we enjoy going there. I was really pleased with the speed we had in Charlotte and this race kind of kicks off the long summer grind. This package should make for some great racing there. Overall it's a great track and I like cycling around the area on Saturdays with my guys.”

PLEASED WITH CHARLOTTE: Johnson finished third last weekend at Charlotte and even though he only led five laps he spent 399 out of 400 laps in the top 15. His average running position was 2.8 and managed a 122.4 driver rating for the night.

HOMETOWN CONNECTIONS: Two members of the No. 48 team have connections to Pennsylvania. Engine tuner John Boydston hails from Oswego, New York, but attended Luzerne County Community College in nearby Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. Shock specialist Mike Ellershaw is from Levittown, Pennsylvania.

SECOND-HIGHEST DRIVER RATING: According to NASCAR's loop data statistics, Johnson has the second-best driver rating at Pocono with a score of 106.9 during the past 10 years at the track. The driver rating is a formula that combines wins, top-15 finishes, average running position while on the lead lap, average speed under green, fastest lap, most laps led and lead-lap finishes. The maximum a driver can earn in each race is 150 points. The driver rating number is used pre-race as a prediction tool and post-race as a performance evaluator.

FINISHING STRONG: Johnson’s career average finish of 10.0 at Pocono is first among active drivers. Johnson was the last driver to win from the pole position at the triangle track on June 9, 2013, when he started first, led 128 laps and won the event.

BLAZE AND THE MONSTER MACHINES: For the second time in his career, Johnson will lend his voice to an animated cartoon series. Nickelodeon’s popular animated pre-school and STEM-based series "Blaze and the Monster Machines" will feature Johnson in upcoming race car-themed episodes, along with Hendrick Motorsports teammates Kahne and Elliott. Johnson is featured as “Dash," a car that is fun, friendly, fast and the ultimate racing buddy for Blaze. The second episode in the series, “Race to Eagle Rock,” will air on Thursday, June 2, at 1:30 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon. Click here for a behind the scenes look at the filming.
