Harvick fastest in Saturday's final Dover practice

DOVER, Del. — Kevin Harvick showed that his pole Friday was no fluke as he had the fastest, most consistent car in Sprint Cup Series practice Saturday.

Harvick, who will lead the AAA 400 field to green Sunday at Dover International Speedway, posted the top speed in final practice and had the fastest 10-lap average in both Saturday sessions.

The Stewart-Haas Racing driver turned a lap of 157.089 mph in the final 50-minute session Saturday afternoon. He was followed by Brad Keselowski (156.379) and Jeff Gordon (155.952).

Denny Hamlin and Aric Almirola rounded out the top-five, all Chase for the Sprint Cup competitors.

The other Chase drivers in final practice: Kasey Kahne (sixth), Jimmie Johnson (eighth), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (ninth), Kyle Busch (10th), Carl Edwards (11th), Kurt Busch (14th), AJ Allmendinger (16th), Matt Kenseth (17th), Joey Logano (18th), Greg Biffle (20th) and Ryan Newman (23rd).

Harvick’s top average speed over 10 consecutive laps was 153.789 mph. On the 10-lap speed chart, he was followed by Jamie McMurray, Kahne, Kenseth Keselowski, Almirola, Kyle Busch, Johnson, Hamlin and Brian Vickers.

There were no incidents in the two practice sessions Saturday.

The race Sunday is scheduled for 400 laps (2 p.m. ET, ESPN).
