Harvick fastest in first Watkins Glen practice session

Kevin Harvick led the first Sprint Cup practice Friday at Watkins Glen International.

Harvick turned a lap of 128.474 mph around the 2.45-mile road course in the first of two practices scheduled in preparation for the Cheez-It 355.

Jimmie Johnson (127.841 mph) was second on the board, followed by Brad Keselowski, AJ Allmendinger and Marcos Ambrose. Joey Logano, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and 2013 race winner Kyle Busch rounded out the top 10.

There were several spins in the session, but the only driver that appeared to suffer damage to his car was Landon Cassill.
