2005 Texas winner Greg Biffle, with a lap speed of 193.327 mph, was the quickest during the first AAA Texas 500 practice session at Texas Motor Speedway.
Biffle’s fellow Roush Fenway Racing teammate, Carl Edwards, was second fastest with a lap speed of 193.043 mph, and was followed by Tony Stewart (192.713 mph), Marcos Ambrose (192.472) and Regan Smith (192.383).
Rounding out the top-ten fastest during practice were Juan Pablo Montoya (192.253) , Kyle Busch (192.226), Trevor Bayne (192.041, Matt Kenseth (192.000) and Kurt Busch (191.904).
Because the teams have two practice sessions scheduled for tomorrow, most all of the times were done with qualifying trim.
The teams will return to the track a little later this afternoon for their 4:40 PM (ET) scheduled qualifying session, and then they will return to the track on Saturday for two more practice sessions (9:45 AM – 10:30 AM; “Happy Hour” 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM – ET).
The AAA Texas 500 is set to get underway approximately at 3:30 PM (ET) Sunday afternoon with ESPN beginning their (pre-race) television coverage at 2:00 PM (ET),
