Storyline – Goodyear consolidates Vegas tire set-up: For the NASCAR weekend at Las Vegas last September, Goodyear made an adjustment to the right-side tire for the Cup cars only, with Xfinity and Camping World Truck staying on the same tire set-up they ran earlier in the season. The change was to the right-side tread compound and was made to increase grip. After that event, feedback from Cup teams confirmed a more stable tire set-up, so Goodyear moved to line up all three series for 2021.

"Las Vegas is considered a low tire wear track, so our tread compounds are formulated to work on that type of surface," said Greg Stucker, Goodyear’s director of racing. "Last fall we changed the right-side tire at Las Vegas, Kansas and Texas, aligning all three tracks. That move was made to give the cars more grip, and we saw some good results and had positive feedback from the teams so we decided to move forward with those same set-ups for this season."

Notes – Cup returns to Vegas on fall tire set-up; new right-side tire for Xfinity, Trucks: Teams in all three of NASCAR’s national series will run the same tire set-up at Las Vegas this week . . . this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires that Cup teams ran at this track last September . . . for the Xfinity cars and Camping World Trucks, they ran this same left-side tire code at Las Vegas last season, but with a different right-side code . . . compared to what Xfinity and Truck ran in 2020, this right-side tire features a compound change for more grip . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run liners in all four tire positions at Las Vegas . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
