· This is the seventh year in a row the third race of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoff’s has been held at Dover International Speedway (2011 – 2016). Dover was the second race of the Playoffs from 2004 – 2010.

· 10 different drivers have won the Dover Playoff races, but Jimmie Johnson (four) is the only driver with multiple wins (2005, 2009, 2010 and 2013).
· When Dover was the second race of the Playoffs (2004 – 2010), Jimmie Johnson won twice at Dover and went on to win the title.
o In 2009, Jimmie Johnson won from the pole at Dover, and went on to win his fourth consecutive MENCS title.

History
· The official opening of Dover International Speedway, then called Dover Downs International Speedway, was in 1969.
· The first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover was held on July 6, 1969 – won by Richard Petty.
· The first two races at Dover were 300 miles. The race length was changed to 500 miles in 1971.
· The track surface was changed to concrete in 1995.
· The race length was changed to 400 miles beginning with the second race in 1997.
· The track name was changed to Dover International Speedway in 2002.
· There have been 95 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races at Dover International Speedway, one race per year in 1969 and 1970, two races per year since 1971.
