Jimmie Johnson on Saturday night's race at Richmond
“This is what we work all year for. The race at Richmond is always a good one for the fans. It’s always exciting. There will be a few teams trying to get into the Chase and a few guys trying to defend their spot. We are lucky to have won and secured our spot early so we can just go out there on Saturday night and try to win. We don’t have that Chase pressure.”

CHASE LEADER: With one regular-season race remaining, Jimmie Johnson currently holds the No. 1 spot in the 16-driver Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup field. That leaves him in the driver's seat to emerge as the points leader heading into the first round of the 10-race Chase beginning at Chicagoland Speedway next weekend.
ALWAYS A CHASER: The 2015 season will be Johnson’s 12th Chase berth. Since the postseason format was implemented in 2004, Johnson has had a strong presence in each one of them. During that span, Johnson won his six titles (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2013). He is the only driver to have made the Chase every year.
CHASE WINS: During the past 10 years, Johnson has won 25 races in the Chase -- including at least one in every Chase since 2004.
RICHMOND DRIVER RATING: According to NASCAR's loop data statistics, Johnson has the 10th-best driver rating at Richmond with a score of 89.5 during the past 10 years at the track. The driver rating is a formula that combines wins, top-15 finishes, average running position while on the lead lap, average speed under green, fastest lap, most laps led and lead-lap finishes. The maximum a driver can earn in each race is 150 points. The driver rating number is used pre-race as a prediction tool and post-race as a performance evaluator.
RICHMOND TICKET PACKAGE: Richmond International Raceway and Johnson have teamed up to offer a family ticket package for Saturday, Sept. 12 at RIR. The package includes a NASA hands-on activity, a question-and-answer session with the six-time champion and a ticket to the race on Saturday night. Tickets are $24 for kids 12 and younger and $48 for adults. For more information, click here.
