Montoya Fastest During First Brickyard 400 Practice Session

Montoya has been close to winning on a few occasions at the Brickyard in NASCAR. He won 2000 Indy 500 
Juan Pablo Montoya, with a lap speed of 185.410 mph, was the fastest Friday afternoon during the first Brickyard 400 practice session at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Second fastest was Kurt Busch with a lap speed of 184.347 mph, and he was followed by Austin Dillon (183.944 mph) who was third fastest, Paul Menard (183.700) fourth and Kasey Kahne (183.640) was fifth.

Rounding out the top-ten fastest during the session were Joey Logano (183.337 mph) who was sixth fastest, Kevin Harvick (182.604) seventh, Martin Truex, Jr. (182.567) eighth. Matt Kenseth (182.508 mph) ninth and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (182.297 mph) posting the tenth fastest lap speed.

Jimmie Johnson was fastest among two drivers that ran at least 10 laps consecutively and Indiana native Ryan Newman ran the most laps with 28.

The teams will return to the track Saturday morning for their 9:00 am – 11:00 am (ET) scheduled “Happy Hour” (final) practice session, and then qualify later in the day at 2:10 pm (ET) to determine the starting lineup for Sunday’s race.
