Lame duck for a whole season? |
Kevin Harvick will leave Richard Childress Racing after the 2013 season and has signed a multiyear contract to drive for Stewart-Haas Racing starting in 2014, ESPN.com reported Friday.
Citing multiple NASCAR sources, ESPN reported that Harvick will drive a fourth Stewart-Haas car, teaming with team co-owner Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman and Danica Patrick.
Harvick has driven for RCR throughout his 12-year career. He replaced Dale Earnhardt following Earnhardt’s death in the 2001 Daytona 500.
Neither Harvick nor Stewart would confirm the report Friday.
"I'm looking forward to finishing out this season on a strong note with RCR and continuing to build our program going into the 2013 season with the ultimate goal of winning a championship," Harvick told ESPN.com. "Anything beyond that, once I know what my future plans are set I'll let you know."
